Fluffy Gingerbread
¼ c applesauce
¼ c butter or margarine
2 eggs
¾ molasses
¼ c brown sugar
1 ½ tsp baking soda
1 tsp ginger
½ tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
½ cloves
2 cups white flour or 1 ¾ c white flour & ¼ c wheat germ
1 c boiling water which is poured on after all ingredients are mixed
Cream butter, sugar, applesauce, molasses and eggs. Add dry ingredients
Spread into greased pan 9X13 then pour the boiling water over it and mix until combined
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes
We like to eat fluffy gingerbread with applesauce on top and a dollop of whip cream but it is a great cake on it’s own.
